Ego Død Studio launched a social media campaign called "YETER!" ("Enough!" in English ) in February following the devastating earthquake based in Kahramanmaraş. The campaign aims to go against the current bad construction practices in Turkey that cause thousands of people's lives.

We need to raise our voices and stop this madness. We need to stop authorities and contractors get away with this never-ending massacre without facing any circumstances. Enough is enough!

2023

Why do we let people, who value financial gain more than people’s lives, carry out construction works?

Two consecutive earthquakes and a series of aftershocks hit Turkey and Syria on Feb 6, 2023. 50,000 people died, 107,204 people gotten injured and 11 cities perished - around 227,027 buildings collapsed.

Once again, we let contractors, who don’t obtain a decent education or knowledge on how to build any type of earthquake-proof buildings, do their own thing. We let people, who value financial gain more than people’s lives, do their own thing.

We learned nothing from the past.

With the collaboration of Ayman El-Fouly - a senior engineering consultant from the United States, we created a social media campaign to bring awareness to this situation. We need to educate our children better so that they won’t do the mistakes that we see today. Please share to help with the cause.

BUILDINGS ARE NOT DESTINED TO COLLAPSE DUE TO EARTHQUAKE.

PEOPLE DIED, GOTTEN INJURED, BECAME HOMELESS, DISPLACED FROM THEIR HOMELAND, AND LOST THEIR LIVELIHOOD BECAUSE OF THE ACTIONS OF MONEY-SAVY, UNEDUCATED, AND IRRESPONSIBLE PEOPLE.

HOW IS THIS ACCEPTABLE?

IN JAPAN, 75% OF THE BUILDINGS ARE EARTHQUAKE RESISTANT.

70% OF BUILDINGS IN ISTANBUL ALONE ARE NOT EARTHQUAKE RESISTANT.

WE NEED TO BUILD ASEISMIC STRUCTURES DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED BY PROPERLY TRAINED ARCHITECTS AND ENGINEERS.
