Management+Strategy

It did not come as a surprise that project management has a military background when I attended the Project Management and Consulting Practice course in Aalto University in 2019. Today, project management is seen as important in personal life as it is in work life (managing a family budget or having your own project to give an example). In that case, I have been a project manager since 2004 - a pretty good one in fact - as I have successfully identified requirements, established clear and achievable objectives, balanced the competing demands for quality, scope, time, and cost, and considered the stakeholder's view for many projects.

What makes a project successful, if you ask? It is such if it met the scope, time, and cost goals, satisfied the customer/sponsor, and if it produced the desired result. My experience has not always been positive. The projects failed when the team did not have dynamic participation and communication, had an unrealistic time scale, poorly estimated requirements, and poor testing. Regardless of the outcome, those experiences have shaped me to be a better team builder, active listener, conflict manager, and decision-maker. Now, let's create that WBS Work Breakdown Structure for your project.
